WEEK TWO PRAYER FOCUS: Worship (Psalm 100:1-5)

Day Nine: Adoration

Today's First Passage: Psalm 100:3a

Adoration is the act of paying honor and expressing fervent and devoted love. Honor and the expression of love are an essential part of any relationship, especially our relationship with God. This verse begins by saying, “know that the Lord is God.” Remember who He is. Remember what it means for Him to be God - King over all, stronger than any earthly strength, and wise enough to know all things at all times. Recounting these truths back to Him and to your own heart in prayer and worship will build up your relationship with Him.

We can see this reality play out in healthy marriages or even in family relationships. We tell each other, “You are beautiful,” Or “you’re so thoughtful.” Or “You are kind, and so faithful.” Or “I love this about you…” - These words of affirmation bring a joy and a depth to our relationships, and the same is true with our relationship with God. Speak out why You adore him, and if you listen, you will hear Him say what he loves about you.

  • What do I love about God?
  • What parts of His character bring me the most joy?
  • Is the majority of my prayer life consumed with asking Him for something, or appreciating Him for who He is?

Work through these scriptures, letting them sink into your heart, and wrapping your own words around them for yourself, your family, our church and for our city.

For yourself/your family: Psalm 95:3-5

For Commonwealth:  Psalm 103:8

For the City:  Psalm 103:17-18

Take a few minutes today to say out loud or to write down all the things you love about who God is. List as many things as you can, and take a moment on each one to let adoration rise up in your heart.
