God is our Protector

WEEK ONE PRAYER FOCUS: The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)

Day six: God is our Protector.

TODAY'S FIRST PASSAGE: Matthew 6:13 “lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one.”

We have to remember that we were born into a war. Life on this earth is not random, nor is it neutral. We really do have an enemy whose goal is to “steal, kill, and destroy,” (John 10:10), but the good news is, this verse continues and reminds us that Jesus came to bring us into “life to the full". So it’s really important that in our prayer life, we remember to ask God to help us and lead us in the midst of these battles.

  • What, for me, are areas of temptation? Ask God to lead you away from these.
  • Are there any areas where I need God to deliver me from the work and influence of the enemy? If this seems to be an ongoing struggle, you might consider participating in the Freedom small group this coming fall.
  • What are some ways that I can actively resist the enemy in my prayer life and in my everyday activities?

Work through these scriptures, letting them sink into your heart, and wrapping your own words around them for yourself, your family, our church and for our city.

For yourself/your family: Exodus 14:14

For Commonwealth:  John 17:11

For the City:  2 Chronicles 7:14

Try praying out loud today, asking God to lead you in His ways, and asking Him to deliver you from any plans and schemes of the enemy.
