Thanksgiving

WEEK TWO PRAYER FOCUS: Worship (Psalm 100:1-5)

Day Eleven: Thanksgiving

Today's First Passage: Psalm 100:4

Thanksgiving is always a good place to begin in prayer. This same verse in the Message Translation says,
"Enter with the password: 'Thank you!’ Make yourselves at home, talking praise. Thank him. Worship him.”

Expressing gratitude is one of the primary goals of worship. It’s one of the greatest gifts we can give to our God who has given us everything. There is no way we can earn or ever repay the grace and kindness and generosity God has lavishly poured out on us, but we can offer him the appropriate response of a heart-felt ‘Thank You’ as a regular part of our prayer life.

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER: What specifically am I thankful for this month, this week, today?

Does knowing that I’ve been completely forgiven for every sin, and that God chooses to not even remember it, make me more thankful?

Have I thanked Him for that forgiveness?

 PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES:

Work through these scriptures, letting them sink into your heart, and wrapping your own words around them for yourself, your family, our church and for our city.

For yourself/your family: 1 Thessalonians 5:16

    For Commonwealth: Psalm 9:1-2

      For the City:  Psalm 106:47

DAY ELEVEN PRAYER CHALLENGE: Train yourself in thanksgiving - set a reminder on your phone titled “give thanks" for a couple different times throughout the day, and take a couple minutes at that point to give thanks to God.
