God Has a Plan

WEEK ONE PRAYER FOCUS: The Lord's Prayer (Matthew 6:9-13)

Day Three: God has a Plan

TODAY'S FIRST PASSAGE: Matthew 6:10 “Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”

One of the most important things about this passage is the idea that God has a will. In every moment and circumstance that occurs on the earth, God has a will, a desire, a plan for how He would like it to be - essentially this is what heaven is like. The Kingdom of heaven is the place when & where God’s will is actulaized. This is why it is so important for us to understand what the kingdom of heaven is like, because it helps us understand what God desires.

Some of the best pictures of the Kingdom of Heaven (where God’s will is done) can be found in scripture in three places:

1 - Creation & the Garden of Eden (Genesis 1-2),

2 - The person of Jesus (Matthew - John)

3 - The descriptions of heaven (Revelation 21-22)

QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER:

  • If everything in my life aligned with God’s will, what would today look like?
  • If everything in Commonwealth aligned with God’s will, what would our church look like?
  • If everything in our city aligned with God’s will and plan, what would San Diego look like? - let these questions fuel your prayers today, and pray it in.

PRAYING THE SCRIPTURES:

Work through these scriptures, letting them sink into your heart, and wrapping your own words around them for yourself, your family, our church and for our city.

For yourself/your family: Matthew 28:18-20
For Commonwealth: Matthew 16:18
For the City: Revelation 21:3-4

DAY THREE PRAYER CHALLENGE:
Pause in one of your everyday environments (your house, your work, your neighborhood, your school, etc) and ask God, what would it look like here specifically if His will was done? Then pray for that to become reality.
