In December, we were offered the opportunity to through a holiday party at the elementary school that we will be holding our services at come February 26th. Our major aims were to bless the community, to create a place for families to connect and celebrate the Christmas season (for free), and to have as much fun as possible. So we moved onto the playground at Golden Hill Elementary and transformed it into a winter festival.
We hope by now you've heard the good news that we've found a location for our Sunday Gatherings! We're launching on February 26th at Golden Hill Elementary, and we couldn't be more excited to be a part of this community and to see all that God does.
As we’re in the process of planting Commonwealth, we are realizing more than ever how important it is to have this whole journey covered in prayer. One of our favorite books on prayer is called Circle Maker by Mark Batterson, and it has really taught us the significance and importance of praying specific and persistent prayers, and then watching in faith as God moves miraculously.
Last night we hosted our first meet up at Moniker General in Point Loma. It was an amazing night of new connections, hearing new stories, and meeting more people who have a love for San Diego and a heart to see God do good things here. We laughed, played a few games of corn hole and chatted over coffee from Moniker, and nomad donuts.
The Bring Life ealing Conference was an amazing time this past week. We heard inspiring messages on how God wants to empower His church to heal bodies and families, communities and cities. Tre Sheppard, Jonny Hughes, Mark Marx and Nick Fox inspired and equipped us toward stepping into the ministry of healing in our everyday lives.
This Saturday, we launched a weekly outreach called Healing in the Streets. It is one way we are joining with God to see lives changed in San Diego. The idea is incredibly simple, we just meet in the park, set out some chairs and signs that read: “healing” and then offer prayer for healing to those who pass by.
We are beyond excited to host Bring Life - Healing Conference this August.
Our aim is to equip the church to routinely do the things Jesus did during His ministry in the gospels. Everywhere Jesus went he brought life, and it's still the same today. One of the ways he brought life was through healing those who were sick, disease ridden, or injured.
Saint and North West. Gwyneth Paltrow named her baby Apple. The guys from U2 have done some good ones too. The Edge (what a great name!) called a child Blue Angel, while Bono named his daughter Memphis Eve Sunny Day Hewson. But of course MJ takes the cake on weird baby names with Prince Michael Jackson, which isn’t so bad....
